Chief Engineer on M/Y La Familia (Amels 55-meter, 2015)

  • Managed the vessel’s technical aspects during the final phase of a 6-month yard period, focusing on Lloyd’s intermediate and annual survey completion at Lusben Shipyard, Livorno, Italy.
  • Ensured compliance with the CISR annual survey, including the installation of new raw sewage discharge pump rate reduction hardware.
  • Conducted recommissioning of systems and reactive maintenance post-re-launch, ensuring the vessel’s readiness for Summer 2023 cruising.
  • Oversaw scheduled maintenance, organized spare parts and tools, and improved the utilization of the IDEA planned maintenance system for enhanced record-keeping.

I oversaw critical yard period activities at Lusben Shipyard, ensuring smooth Lloyd’s surveys. I also managed the vessel’s compliance with the CISR annual survey, conducted recommissioning post-relaunch, and optimized maintenance systems for peak performance during the Summer 2023 cruising season.

 

Chief Engineer on M/Y Seahorse (Amels 53-meter, 1999) 

– Various Regions (Jun 2017 – Dec 2022)

 

  • Served over 5.5 years, participating in a mini refit in Viareggio, Italy, and a year-long major refit at Monaco Marine La-Ciotat, encompassing the vessel’s exterior, interior, technical aspects, AV/IT systems, and stern extension.
  • Project managed Lloyd’s 20-year special survey and Quantum stabilizer’s 8000-hour major service in Istanbul in 2022.
  • Ensured regular maintenance of machinery, AV/IT systems, tenders, and jet skis. Maintained ISM compliance under various management teams.
  • Managed health and safety protocols, completed class annuals, intermediates, and flag surveys, and built rapport with surveyors.
  • Oversaw inventory control, spare parts and tools management, and technical readiness of the vessel.
  • Enhanced IDEA planned maintenance system utilization for better record-keeping.

Key achievements during my tenure include the successful project management of Lloyd’s 20-year special survey and the Quantum stabilizer’s 8000-hour major service in Istanbul in 2022. I consistently ensured the vessel’s top-notch condition by overseeing regular maintenance of machinery, AV/IT systems, tenders, and jet skis while maintaining ISM compliance under different management teams.

 

Chief Engineer on M/Y Princess AVK (Sunseeker 47-meter, 2016)

– Mediterranean Sea (2014 – Jun 2017)

  • Led as build engineer for Project Gold Diamond, overseeing the build from 2014, including completion, launching, and extensive testing of equipment and systems in 2016.
  • Managed scheduled and reactive maintenance for various equipment, including AV/IT systems, tenders, and jet skis.
  • Implemented and managed a planned maintenance system, enhancing record-keeping.
  • Coordinated with shipyard contractors and warranty engineers, producing defect lists for warranty approvals.
  • Supervised contract work and assessed system improvements.
  • Trained second engineer officers and managed inventory and spare parts ordering.


As the lead as build engineer for Project Gold Diamond from 2014, I steered the project through its entire lifecycle—from inception, completion, launching in 2016 to extensive equipment and systems testing. Throughout this journey, I assumed responsibility for both scheduled and reactive maintenance, ensuring the seamless operation of various equipment, including AV/IT systems, tenders, and jet skis.

 

Sole Engineer on M/Y Princess K (Sunseeker 40-meter, 2013)

– Persian Gulf, Indian Ocean & Mediterranean Sea (Feb 2013 – Nov 2015)

  • Commissioned in the UAE, overseeing scheduled and reactive maintenance for equipment like AV/IT systems, tenders, and jet skis.
  • Upgraded the vessel for optimal performance in Gulf summer conditions.
  • Managed shipyard contractors and warranty engineers, creating and overseeing a defects list for warranty approvals.
  • Conducted successful Flag/Class annuals and Load Line surveys.
  • Implemented and managed a planned maintenance system, overseeing spare parts and inventory control.

To streamline maintenance operations, I implemented and managed a planned maintenance system, ensuring efficient spare parts and inventory control.

 

Chief Engineer and Delivery Engineer Roles (2013) – M/Y Yolo 49.9m (ex M/Y Taiba) & Other Yachts

  • Delivered M/Y Taiba (later renamed M/Y Yolo), a 49.9m Benetti, from Ajman to Dubai, handling system reactivation and ensuring operational readiness.
  • Worked on multiple deliveries, including a Sanlorenzo 24m and as a relief engineer on a Sunseeker 38m.
  • Demonstrated adaptability in various roles, ensuring successful yacht deliveries and operations in the UAE cruising region.

My role involved the successful delivery of M/Y Taiba, orchestrating its transition to M/Y Yolo, and overseeing the relocation from Ajman to Dubai. This encompassed the meticulous reactivation of systems and ensuring the vessel’s operational readiness for its new ventures.

 

Engineering Projects at Colombo Dockyard PLC (2008/2009 & 2010/2011)

 

  • Executed dry docking planning and successfully managed vessel docking and undocking processes in graving docks.
  • Skilfully planned keel block layouts and performed propeller and shaft line removals, including CPP Propeller overhauls and shaft line alignments.
  • Conducted overhauls and maintenance of slow and medium-speed main and auxiliary engines.
  • Performed hull thickness measurements, thermal imaging, and NDT testing.
  • Maintained various auxiliary systems, including water makers, sewage plants, and refrigeration plants.
  • Assisted in electrical installations, Megger Testing, and maintenance of MSB & EMSB systems.

Beyond mechanical aspects, I conducted overhauls and maintenance of slow and medium-speed main and auxiliary engines, ensuring optimal performance. I contributed to the vessel’s structural integrity through hull thickness measurements, thermal imaging, and NDT testing.
